U.S. Stocks Rise on Consumer Confidence Report; EBay Advances

    By Scarlet Fu

Sept. 26 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks rose after consumer confidence exceeded economists' forecasts, bolstering speculation spending will continue even as the economy slows.

The Conference Board's index of sentiment climbed to 104.5 in September from a revised reading of 100.2 in August. Economists forecast a gain to 103.

The Standard & Poor's 500 Index added 1.03, or 0.1 percent, to 1327.40 at 10:05 a.m. in New York. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 15.05, or 0.1 percent, to 11,590.86. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 4.14, or 0.2 percent, to 2253.21.

EBay Inc., the world's largest Internet auctioneer, jumped after Goldman, Sachs & Co. said the company is poised to improve listings and revenue growth. Time Warner Inc. rose for a second day after the world's biggest media company received its first upgrades in more than a year from two brokerages.

EBay added $1.04 to $27.26. Time Warner climbed 16 cents to $18.29.
