The Liberals were busy running their own scare campaigns on
house values and asylum seekers.
Apparently if Labor were to win the election the Govt reckoned
the value of my home would collapse and also they were scaring me
into believing that if Labor won asylum seekers would flood into
the country. Their scare campaign must have worked with me because
I voted for the return of the Liberal member in my electorate.
However, it seems they didn’t manage to scare enough voters.
In hindsight I probably should not have been scared because after
all, economists said the impact on home values would be marginal
and Labor’s policy on asylum seekers was clear in that no asylum
seekers arriving by boat would be allowed to settle in Australia.
Still, no point in whinging about respective scare campaigns. All
political parties do it and like in respect to investing in stocks, it pays
to always do your own research before you make up your mind as to
what you believe.
