Why all the hostility?, page-32

Tradey - on the face of it, you have made what appears to me a totally unjustified attack on the XPE message board and a rather naive one at that.

In my view, what you refer to as 'hostility' is, in the main, not hostility but 'robust discussion'.

But I am open to being convinced that there is some sense in what you are saying. But you have to provide arguments that support your allegations.

For example, which posts are guilty of demonstrating "a lot of hostility", which "person A has abused person B for speaking up", which posters and posts are you referring to when you write "reading all the crap a lot of you post" and what are you referring to when you say "stop with the pathetic games"?

Without providing that, your post is just a nebulous generalisation of no use to anyone.

    A couple of other things:

I find it quite a comical contradiction that you would just accept that "uprampers/ downrampers having their say is part and parcel of the game" and be so incensed by "personal attacks on credibility". Ramping - whether up or down - is manipulation within a zero-some game and SHOULD be challenged - including challenging the credibility of those doing it. You, in stead, would have us believe that challenging the credibility of rampers is a bigger 'crime' than the activity of the ramper. That is just plain ridiculous. In claiming that, it is clear that you have little understanding of ethics and personal accountability.

You state that "no one here is forcing anyone else to throw their hard earned into an investment but themselves. If you invest in a company/product based on other peoples opinions, you're a clown!"

First, of course, your comment is hypocritical! You have just spent two paragraphs chastising certain posters for having the audacity to make "personal attacks on credibility? Personal attacks on fellow investors themselves?" And then you do that very thing yourself - by calling all those people who respect and follow the advice of influential HC posters "clowns". While I generally agree with your comment (No one here is forcing anyone else to throw their hard earned into an investment) , everyone knows that HC is populated by people right across the experience spectrum - including newbies - who for better or worse are looking for guidance on message boards such as HC, so I think its a bit rich, given their inexperience to refer to them as 'clowns'.

You also say "Don't we all want the same thing? Don't we all want Xped to soar to great heights, set a new benchmark for IoT and make us all filthy rich in the process?"

Yes, of course, but why are you happy to have some here do it at others expense? Why do you have a problem with posters taking others to task for what they perceive as dubious personal ethics and integrity. Do you have the same problem in the wider world? Do you, for example, regularly write to the ABC complaining of Leigh Sales asking probing questions of politicians or business leaders for the purpose of ensuring accountability. Any journalism for that matter? Or the roles of AAAC and ICAC? And many others?

This is not a kindergarten playground. It is the tough world of wealth creation where, unless you are incredibly naive, you must realise there is going to be a lot of dodgy and dubious behaviour.

What is best here - the mealy-mouthed 'group think' passive credulity that you seem to be craving or a robust, ethical discussion that cuts through to the chase and calls manipulation for what it is, when and where it is perceived and whoever does it?

I know where I want to stand.
