Telling a journalist "don't worry we can beat Hawthorn" is completely different to "we have beaten Hawthorn previously so we know we can do it again". If you have ever had a conversation with any individual you would know the two send completely different messages. I'm sure you already know that hence why you manipulated the statement to make it sound obnoxious.
