Drivingedge. Consider this, imagine an upside down triangle which by design is similar to an open pit. As the pit goes deeper the narrower it becomes at the base, until as has happened a goodbye cut is taken at the narrowest point. If open pit mining was to continue this would have required several hundred thousand, if not a million plus tonnes of waste to be removed. The cost would have been astronomical & the grade we have produced so far could not warrant that scenario. I have stated before that the mining operation should have been an underground operation from the start, but sadly ABUs expertise at the time was sorely lacking in practical hands on mining. Why have ABU not proceeded with an underground operation since? It's very simple! we don't have enough money to attack OP & continue to explore our very promising drill targets. The new board & management have had to be very selective in their decisions for the future of the company. I for one support the direction we are taking at the present time. I hate to say it after the debacle that has occured in the last few years, especially with our $$$$$ we have all seen squandered, but once again patience is required, but not to long to wait for news from the current drilling programs.
