Mate, do not take advice or be swayed by the opinions of people in this forum. People like @The Dean has been saying the same thing in the ups and downs. Honestly, I recommend you do some online courses and if you have absolutely no idea save yourself the future heartache and get behind a full service broker.

I started out about 8 years ago and lost about $60k (expensive education) listening to stooges on here and the 'hot tip' from mates. DO NOT take hot tips. Do not listen to anyone here. I suggest you learn how to fundamentally analyse a stock (high difficult) and then technically analyse it (medium difficulty). DO not get emotionally invested with a company. Buy it when its oversold - sell it when its hot. If you really love it and it gets hotter buy back it at a higher price if you have to but FFS lock in your profits.

Use sites like FNArena, Aussie Bulls, BarCharts, get a book like "technical analysis for dummies" (free pdf's floating around online. Use this forum to get extra ideas but do not take any advice.
