It's really surprising that anyone should be asking this question, especially a holder of A2M shares. The best answer is to DYOR, starting off with some of the material on the company's web sites. Infant formula is just a small part of A2M's future, although an important one.
It's still difficult for A2M to make health claims, but look at some of the anecdotes from consumers, like the UK mother whose child was tortured by chronic eczema and the doctors had no answer, but the problem was cleared up within days after grandma suggested she switch to a2. And the parents with autistic kids who report dramatic improvement in their children's behaviour when they switch to A2, yet most doctors still refuse to believe it. And this can't just be dismissed as imagination. The autism connection has now been confirmed by A2M-funded US research showing the BCM7 peptide generated by A1 milk creates havoc in human brain tissues. But of course you won't read about that in the media.
And look at the A2-funded clinical test results, like the Curtin University test and the recent Shanghai test. There are literally billions of consumers who believe they are "lactose intolerant" but are now learning that in many instances they are able to drink milk by switching to A2. Some people suggest these results are suspect because A2M funded the tests. But no one is actually disputing the test results which are published openly in scientific journals, not even the hundreds of scientists employed by mainstream (A1) dairy.
And this is just the beginning. There's now good scientific research showing a link between A1 and sudden infant deaths. The media won't tell you about this, but it's in the science journals, and again it's not disputed. There's also good science pointing to links between A1 and diabetes and several gut-related conditions such as coeliac disease and irritable bowel syndrome.
A lot of people have difficulty believing all this because they say "My family has been drinking A1 milk for years and we're still healthy". Maybe so, maybe not. In many cases, I would suggest they may be conveniently forgetting things like the digestive or skin problems their kids had, for example (and which may have cleared up when they switched from milk to sugar-laced fizzy beverages).
Actually, many consumers (especially Europeans) have an enzyme in their digestive system that can largely deal with A1. It's been bred into them through a centuries-old evolutionary process. But vast populations don't have it.
Many consumers also have a gut wall that is relatively secure most of the time, so the BCM7 peptide created by A1 milk doesn't get through it into the bloodstream and cause them noticeable problems elsewhere in the body. But there are large numbers of people whose gut walls are "leaky" for one reason or another, either temporarily or chronically, and who consequently have to adopt a gluten-free and dairy casein-free diet. The use of antibiotics can cause major damage to the gut's natural protective lining for any of us, even if only temporarily. I should really leave this particular topic to Chianti - she's the expert.
The fact is, a lot of people who get problems from A1 simply carry on tolerating them as just "natural" until they discover the problems disappear when they switch to A2. So the word is getting round. It's a gradual process and will continue.
The health authorities and medical profession aren't going to issue a general warning to consumers about the dangers of A1 because they don't want to scare parents off giving their kids dairy products, and that's fair enough at this stage because there's not enough A2 to go around. But gradually, health professionals are going to realise A2 is the answer to a lot of health problems, and will increasingly prescribe it when they see it as "appropriate". Meanwhile, a lot of consumers aren't going to wait, and are going to make the switch to A2 as a health precaution if they can afford it.
This thing has many decades to run, and is going to have huge ramifications healthwise. So the commercial ramifications are also potentially huge.
