Taughtbuffet? Is he some sort of authority to be consulted?
---------
Rather than an authority, he is an example of the view held by many Jews, including the source you provide . They hold Jewish commentary as an authority, rather than the inspired Scriptures that Jesus championed.
The Hebrew Scriptures are riddled with prophetic references to Jesus that he himself drew on.
The name “Tanakh” comes from the three divisions of the Jewish Bible in Hebrew: Torah (Law), Neviʼim (Prophets), and Kethuvim (Writings), using the first letter of each section to form the word TaNaKh. These books were penned in Hebrew and Aramaic from the 16th century to the 5th century B.C.E.
Many of Jesus disciples were shell shocked when Jesus was executed. Jesus was able to rally them by pointing out references to his death and resurrection.
(Luke 24:44, 45) He then said to them: “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was yet with you, that all the things written about me in the Law of Moses and in the Prophets and Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened up their minds fully to grasp the meaning of the Scriptures,
Why do you suppose Paul was so successful at converting so many to Christianity? Rather than speaking of miracles that Jesus performed that he would have no way of proving, he chose instead to direct them to what their own scrolls in the synagogue he visited said of the promised Messiah.
(Acts 17:1-3) They now traveled through Am·phipʹo·lis and Ap·ol·loʹni·a and came to Thes·sa·lo·niʹca, where there was a synagogue of the Jews. So according to Paul’s custom he went inside to them, and for three sabbaths he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving by references that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead, saying: “This is the Christ, this Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you.”
Only the most stubborn of men could resist the evidence contained in their own Scriptures.
(Acts 17:10, 11) Immediately by night the brothers sent both Paul and Silas to Be·roeʹa. On arriving, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thes·sa·lo·niʹca, for they accepted the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.
In a similar way today many are responding positively to a free home Bible study with Jehovah's Christian Witnesses.
