I know this is not my conversation and I'm certainly no expert as I have proven often. From my understanding, when Mr Gordon is pointing out OT scripture to show that Jesus was foretold from the beginning and that every genealogical reference refers to Jesus, the problem is that most references are pointing to His so-called second coming and not His first.
Because of the extreme prejudice shown by religions such as the one followed by Mr Gordon, that is those who see Jesus as the only truth and further, that their version or interpretation of that truth is the only path possible. They not only dismiss all other religions but every other version of their own family of belief.
This is why the Jews more or less rejected Jesus because He did not fulfil prophecy as you have pointed out.
Jews have told me, having spent some time in Israel, that when the real Messiah comes the Jews will convert more or less as a nation. This Messiah I imagine is the Jesus of the second coming, Jesus by some new name and a new religion. The irony is likely to be that Jews in the future having accepted the new version of Jesus via a new name and religion will then accept the old version and see it all in perspective.
Muhammad claimed to be the Seal of the Prophets. That is the Prophet that finished the cycle from Adam to Himself, the Adamic cycle. His followers tend to imagine He meant the last and greatest. The next cycle is a completely new phase and the beginning of a new cycle based on the return of Jesus (new name, new religion) this time fulfilling all those missing pieces of the puzzle that prevented the Jews from accepting Him the first time.
Having followed this conversation I must say you are doing a good job in trying to help Mr Gordon, but alas, this Amway of religions that he follows knows it's stuff. Few of its adherents every succumb to reason or logic.
