TRS the reject shop limited

Expansion has come to a halt.

Just had a look at the TRS web site (yes I need to get a life) and noticed that store expansion has just about come to a halt. I dont have a problem with this - in fact i agree with the strategy. Weed out the non performing stores and concentrate on increasing same store growth. Cheaper in the long term and makes you concentrate on doing what all good retail shops should do. ie understand your consumer and make the offer attractive and compelling. At the end of the day any clown can open a new store to get a sugar hit - ie previous mgt.

The web site says 339 stores as at June (I think they had 338 at the half year). At the last AGM I can recall they had a aspirational number of 400 - without a time frame. Looks like they have given up on that. It is interesting they state what they are looking for in regards to stores. Anyone own a shopping centre that has not got a Reject shop? If so give Ross a call.

    What they are looking for:
    • Appropriate retail zoning
    • 550 – 850sqm
    • Located close to a supermarket or discount department store
    • Loading at rear or side with truck and pallet access
    • Signage opportunities
Anyone who is looking for some time to kill I suggest you have a look at the landlord information pack as well.

    Cheers

    SLC
