re: drop in price how long will ni last Whilst personally I dont place as much emphasis as the analysts on the ultimately negative impact on spot Ni from the US....I believe a lot of analysts are building in a US collapse/depression/recession which will have an impact on US imports of metals (Zinc/Nickel) and US finished goods imports from China etc and therefore slowdown Chinese finished goods exports and therefore slowdown Chinese imports of raw materials (Zinc/Nickel).
I think there is sufficient internal demand coming through various drivers such as their burgeoning middle class and massive infrastructure projects for these SEA countries to spend up big on Zinc and Nickel using their huge piles of accumulated US dollars without us seeing a collapse in spot prices!
We might see a retracement by some 20-30%in spot Ni to where it should be before inventories became crazy, but I dont believe a crash cometh just yet (imho).
