"it if that happened in Australia i'm sure someone would have clocked him?"

Doesnt always work that way, mate.
If ethnicity, religion, race are involved, even the biggest, hardest copper can be psychologically emasculated.

30 odd years back, the pub in Laverton, WA was under seige by scores of drunken Aboriginals smashing windows and terrorising staff and customers cowering (yes, cowering) inside..... The media reported that Police were unable to act because of the sheer numbers, and could but watch.....which they did.
Two guys in the pub, the bar manager and a truckdriver went out armed with a baseball bat and a Nulla-nulla and cracked heads..... breaking the seige.
Those two guys were charged and convicted of assault, and had to leave their jobs. Ironically, the bar manager had an application being processed to join the Police Force....the incident buggered that. Pity. He would have been a good cop.
The point is that any incident involving Aboriginals back then raised political overtones that no one really wanted to be connected to.
Now, whether it be Germany, France, ....... or Australia.... Police can freeze and consider their careers in any event involving religion or ethnicity because of this poxy pandering to political correctness. That needs to be corrected. Police should be able to do their jobs and protect the public with the full support of their hierarchy and
politicians, and risk their lives without the added concern of repercussions leading to losing their careers.
Police being forced to turn their backs to events is not the answer.

    GZ
