Hello Tonio,
Thankyou firstly for answering,i thought you were going to give it a miss
By the way,im not trying to pick a fight with you about this, its good to be able to reason it out if we can
Im answering this post first, the other one above is also something i want to reply too,but my wife has just come home,i need to be present
But in saying that,i have to reply to this post, because, you need to understand my position, and what you have said misrepresents my position.
You need to read and understand peoples positions and also complete threads etc before replying to people ,as this has been a common thing for you to do
:Hi Bowral,
Obviously your definition of Deity or divine is flawed'
Not obviously, because your reply tells me,you dont understand my position at all.
You are applying jehovahs witness theology to me,which is error.
Understand the issue
"You say this describes both the Father and Son but one is God and the other is only the Son of God"
As whereu correctly said,YOU applied ONLY into your bias
I didnt, and would never say,"only the son of God"
My son,is younger than me and comes from a different generation than me
He has the same name as me
Dosent make him less than me,you are applying poor concepts you have to me
"To me Deity or Devine means that you are God as in God the Father and God the Son."
Fine to have an opinion, thats your right
Divine or deity means you have a certain nature
The bible clearly says, clearly,Jesus is the express image of GOD
Image of who?
Is the image, the same as the original?
Or the carbon copy of the original?
"Both are God , one the Father and one the Son"
No,incorrect
One is God
Now when i address you in my posts
Please do me a favour and address or answer systematically the questions i wrote to you in point form,
so we can address them point by point and maybe come to some consensus? So we dont have to keep going over the same things over and over, they were direct questions, please do not cherry pick in the interests of fairness.
"Jesus says that the Father and he are one"
Exactly, nice quote, but, you only quoted the bit that suited your trinitarian bias, and what you have been taught to think, not how to think.
Now lets go to John 17
Jesus testimony,my favourite chapter in the bible.
The context in which you used a portion of a verse to support a theological position, when viewed in its entirety
Means, nothing like what you are saying.
Lets view the context below,i will highlight in capitals the true context
those whom thou hast given me, THAT THEY(his followers)MAY BE ONE, AS WE ARE ONE.
12While I was with them(his followers) in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
13And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they(his followers) are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
20Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21That they(his followers) all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they(his followers) also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they(his followers) may be one, even as we are one:
23I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me
Now,in context,a christian can be one with God,just as Jesus was one with God!
They all share the same spirit
Philipians 2.5
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus
They all have the same purpose, mind, goals
One =unity of thought,purpose,spirit
"Col 1:16 goes on to explain what it means to be the firstborn of all creation."
No it dosent
"It means you are the creator not created"
Straw man argument!
Never once have i,nor do i believe Jesus was created
Mr Gordon as a Jw believes that
That belief is Arianism
Totally different theology that the points i made/make,understand the issues please.
"For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him"
Nothing to do with our subject matter, because firstly i believe Jesus was the creator as it says above, and furthermore,he isnt part of the creation, therefore was never a created being, nor ever can be,as he is the divine son of God.Totally outside of creation.
