I am a long only investor except I have an ETO account that I have in place and might use to provide some downside put protection to my portfolio if I ever believe their is a good time to do so.
As you know I despise the financialization of the world and the short trading that goes with it which is just another sickness in the system. Capital should be readily allocated with enough efficiency in the market by investors simply selling stocks whose performances are waning.
Why borrow stock to sell? All it does is magnify the price move and give money to the front runners who have the power in the market to instigate the move. It also puts additional pressure on the real world company that it otherwise wouldn't have had. A real world company that provides jobs and security for average joes.

As far as STO goes have a read of this thread. @BorisYelttzin wheeled out the exact same rubbish you did about dead cat bounces etc.
Meanwhile I was buy the bottom for the right reasons. The shorters had gone to far and forgotten about the fundamentals. ie the world would not survive for very long when more than half the oil production was underwater. Doesn't take a Phd to figure that one out.
I was planning to hold longer but the when the Saudis walk out of Doha at the last minute that was enough for me. Eshmun
