IMO there are many good and not so good centres everywhere.
The challenges for G8, are that they have become so big, that they are relying on centre managers to basically develop and manage their business for them. Therein lies the problem.
Centre and area managers have this "keep in budget" mindset and to be fair to them, they are educators not business people. Centre managers are responsible for identifying and addressing staff development, but that would be not considered viable expenditure if occupancy was low. As @Timbotunes said four managers in one centre this year alone, disgruntled staff, reminds me of the ABC days. @Timbotunes have management of your centre communicated to parents the issues of staff changes and how they are rectifying those issues?
Area managers actually spend little time in centres. Staff, parents and children need stability and structure.
Occupancy can only be improved at a centre level. Marketing giveaways doesn't work. Build the skills of your staff, retain your staff, start to view the centres as part of individual communities and recognise that all communities have different expectations and needs. Take off the corporate hat, be passionate about the education and service you provide to the children and families of your local communities and high level occupancy will follow.
