My take on this is as follows. Ryan may well have the right to do whatever he likes with his salary, but the message he is inadvertently sending is in very poor taste. One would expect a certain propriety and code of conduct from CEO's of public companies. Investing in a competitor is NEVER going to be seen as the ethical or proper thing to do. The message this sends is at best confusing to the market and shows a lack of regard for the shareholders who employ him. At worst, it undermines the resolve or faith such a leader has in the company he is supposedly 100% committed to. Very poor judgement in my opinion which I think will be marked down accordingly. I can understand why strong supporters of Axiom are now re-evaluating their positions in this company.
