Ozblue,
You make some good points. A number of remote mining operations are already incorporating Solar. Not noticed a lot of wind despite it generally being much cheaper at this stage, however for this mine it has already been promoted. Not sure how the solar and the wind resource overlaps, but obviously not likely to be better than 50 or 60% at a guess.
I hear what you are saying about batteries but I really don't think the economics are quite close enough for early in the mine life. Perhaps. Might also be worth looking at oversizing one of the mills for less than 24 hour operation. Would give expansion capability once batteries got cheap enough. I don't know enough about the processing circuits to know if this would be practical.
Interesting where solar will take us. Solar thermal with heat storage is also a wild card.
I also doubt OZL is looking at a small operation, but expect that they will be looking at it from a range of scenarios, but without too much capital constraint, as once they have C in production they should be a cash machine again.
