We necessarily don't know this. BrainChip said there was F500('s) assistance and discussions. These meaningful discussions could lead to M&A. These F500('s) might not be infuriation anymore however discussions with major companies continue. You are completely right about companies such as IBM not buying BRN because they have billions in capital to try it themselves.
The biggest reason why BRN hasn't been bought out is because it's a commercially untested hardware company. This is the most unsafe area in terms of M&A. Large entities need proper validation of scalability and the ability to generate serious cash.
As I've said before, SP will experience a dramatic turning point (to the moon or to the ground) when Milestone 4 is announced.
