    The methodology is what it is - the writer chose the fastest people over 100m. Nobody claimed that they had won Olympic gold, nobody is claiming that it's the definitive study, it's a study on the performance over age for the nine fastest ever plus Lewis. If you want to deny them champion status that's your choice -

    You obviously missed this:

    "The first thing I did was to gather data from IAAF.org, which hosts a wonderful data repository, for the top nine sprinters ever at 100m, and compare how their times progressed as they aged. That data is shown in the chart below. (I added in Carl Lewis because I was curious.)"

    As the article says, all of Gatlin's best times have been recorded after age 32.
