Actually, as detailed in the TMT Aanalytics report, ADRC does not establish connectivity - therefore it does not compete with or replace connectivity tech (e.g. wi-fi, zigbee, cellular etc) in any way. What it does " revolves around the way the device and controller communicate once a connection has been established" (TMT page 5).
As far as take-up is concerned, all elements (end-to-end) will need to be available at petty much the same time - chips, gateway, browser and cloud - for it to be an attractive proposition.
It seems to me that Xped team have got it covered with Telink and the ARM-based Nasdaq chippie (chipsets) , Intel and Advantech (gateway), Codium (DeB browser) and MS Azure (cloud)
