LOL no reference to the Global Financial Crisis(GFC) in your biassed rant
nor the fact that unlike many countries at the time Australia avoided a recession and was the envy of the world during the Labor Govt’s term of office. Abbott promised that all would come good during his term and instead debt sky rocketed and we went downhill in both economic and social terms.

Even on the boats they would probably have stopped much sooner and less drownings occurred had he as Opposition leader allowed legislation to go thorough that would have permitted the Malaysia Regional solution. The truth is that the liberals wanted the boats to keep coming so they could use that to get re-elected. No secrecy then, every time a boat was seen Abbott and Morrison shouted it from the rooftops encouraging the people smugglers to bring more. Once Abbott got on he rode on the coat tails of Rudd’s new offshore processing and never Australia policy and even when boats were encountered it was all secret and no-one knew what was actually going on.

Unfortunately that secrecy also includes measures that permits cruelty against refugees in Australia’s care, including children and women, to be covered up and even doctors are subject to prosecution if they disclose such cruelty.
