Thanks Paul, good explanation. This is my first rights issue. I haven't had enough experience with CRs to know how the market SP tracks during the process. So, when the extra shares are added to market, does this normally cause the SP to drop significantly because of dilution? or do companies normally track around the CR price and then go back to responding to announcements, fundamentals etc. I know it is all speculation, but is there a path the SP normally takes immediately after CR shares are added, before normalising?
I have a friend who wants to get in and I'm trying to determine if now or just after is the best time.
From what I can determine, if I did not take up my rights, my current holding would be diluted by 25% from the additional shares (assuming someone buys them). So because I am only offered 1 in 9 and the sophs are offered the rest, even if I did take up my rights issue I would not be maintaining the same stakeholding in the company unless I also put in a request for additional shares.
