Sure theoretical physics and the more high-leveled stuff are really more "deductions" but from my own personal experience in the lab (I have worked on tratuzumab both in a joint study with a post-grad uni lab and the research wing of a hospital) I trust facts and results that can be reproduced. In fact, I relied on this "reproducibility" heavily since tratuzumab or commonly known as herceptin is a very effective breast cancer medication and rest assured when I say that my Science got this drug to the patients that needed it much more than simple beliefs in miracles. If someone you know has an illness - you can pray all you want but guess what - it's the scientist behind the medication that will help them. So yeah Science can't explain certain things but mate, if I believed in miracles and took your stance on things, maybe Herceptin wouldn't be on the PBS and thousands of Aussie women wouldn't be alive today.
Sorry if my post sounds grumpy everyone but I didn't spend years of my life trying to help people through my lab work based purely on science to be labelled closed minded. Scientists QUESTION everything - we're not stuck in a belief system. You make this statement willy nilly but check yourself dude. I have personally debunked an article published by the British Journal of Pharmacology during my academic career and even convinced my mentor to let me spend time well after hours because I thought the results were fraudulent. The result of my curiousity and doubt led to the article in question being retracted will a full apology from the BJP as well as very embarrassing admissions of negligence by all the peer reviewers of the article. So buddy - don't tell me I'm stuck in my belief system when I, along with the majority of scientists out there are ever-questioning everything around us.

Samco.as an example,we can observe changes within a species, variations within a species, variaties of cats, dogs, birds this is observable fact and science.Birds coming from dinosaurs is not observable.repeatable, testable, this is where science leaves and asumption and belief step in,but people still call this science,it is not,it is accepted by faith and is a belief.
