Zinc price hits 2016 high. Getting serious now.
The cash zinc price gained 1% to $US2305.50 per tonne overnight, its best price since May 2015.
It comes after the International Zinc Lead Study Group said the global market for refined zinc was in deficit by 138,000 tonnes in the first six months of the year.
Refined zinc production dropped 4.2%, while demand increased by 0.6% (and by 7.1% in China).
