Surprise, surprise, one of the ex-employees was not even in the DRC. Geeze this investigation must have been comprehensive!

There are two forces behind this latest move. Anvil's competitors who are playing dirty, hoping Anvil will pack up and leave, so they can take over Anvil's leases. It was tried before.

Second, RAID & S&G. 12 months ago RAID was invited along with other NGO's to the DRC and they sat down and discussed all the issues. Feeney didn't even bother to turn up for the second day. The other NGO's expressed their satisfaction with the meetings, and since Anvil has pursued many of the recommendations that came from that meeting. You just have to look at the Anvil website for further information.

Feeney went very quiet for quite a while after her site visit. She damn well knows, Anvil was in no position to refuse the government and military's request under Congo law. She also knows what happened to one of Anvil's employees when they tried to refuse the Army's request once before.

Anvil is not a military organisation.

Thankfully, the DRC is moving forward potitically and socially, particularly in the areas in which Anvil operates.
Business is returning and Anvil is still there. Over 90% of employees are locals.

I think, this will never go to trial, but if it did, it won't be Anvil with egg on their faces.
