It has not even been established that he is a Muslim.
It has been established that he was singing the French National Anthem shortly before the attack.
Also that he was intoxicated with drugs and had learned martial arts in Thailand.
He will probably make a statement himself soon and might say what his motives were, if he is to be believed.
