I don't know how anyone else feels, but I'm uncomfortable with Norm's campaign. Everything I've heard about Ian is positive and it would be counter-productive to get rid of him. Sorry Norm, I don't know anything about you except that you pegged the ARU grounds and remain a large share holder. Whilst that makes you a very interesting character in the ARU story, it doesn't tell me squat about your ability as a business man. For all I know, you could be right, but you could also be very wrong. As far as I can tell, the board is actually working well. The only problem so far is that things are moving a little slowly, but I think that is no reflection on the board. The all important metalurgy tests are on time (does anyone want to rush those and end up extracting less than top value from Nolans??). The demerger is being held up by the ASX (not the board). The drilling is progressing as fast as possible.

With the current mining boom in Australia, everything is taking longer than it might have a few years back and we just have to live with that (it will be worth it big time).

As the company grows, the board will naturally expand when new skills are required. I see no benefit to getting rid of a board member who's skills and connections are an asset to the company. If someone can tell me why Ian deserves to go - or what he's done wrong then I am prepared to listen. But to get rid of a good board member at a time when so many companies are competing for a limited supply of talented and experienced people would be foolish in the extreme. I will not be part of punishing an innocent man or harming our company because of Norm's clashes with the board.

I strongly believe that ARU is on the verge of a long climb up in share price (and have been putting my money behind that belief). Let the board do it's work and if any particular board member is doing something wrong, let's hear what it is. This idea of getting rid of Ian just because he happens to be the one coming up for re-election is not only completely unfair to Ian, it is bad for the company. As I said before, tell me what he's done wrong and I'll listen, but I won't be part of hanging a man for someone else's sins (or for someone else's vendeta).
