restrict the performance range of cars they can dr I cant believe that everytime young people die in a car crash the public crusade is to have the driving age increased or limits to the amount of passangers in the car. Unbelievable ..like the poster before me said we have sent our 'kids' to war at 18 & to vote ..
Why are there such extreme reactions. When I was 17 I got my lic..as did all the people I knew ..We had no drink driving laws as such ..no seatbelts, young kids are put into newish smart performance cars ..not like the old VW or Holden that barley made 50 mph's. I understand the parents and friends responses. I believe one parent made several calls to them home ..maybe they were rushing to get back . Maybe the driving instructions are being delivered by incompetent / badly skilled teachers (parents and drive schools). We send our teens to distant countries to 'experience the world ' big risks there, before Uni/ work. I think the parents of today are wrapping the kids in a little to much wool, maybe responsible driving comes with taking responsibilty on at an earlier age. We are mollycoddling our young adults' gosh we call them kids at the age we once called them MEN.
PS I have lost 2 sisters to 1x drunken 21 yr old, one yr later a reckless 36 yr old, and several friends kids. I still feel the pain and grief and I worry for my own teenagers. I believe the young man was speeding in the Byron crash? Experience in driver training is urgently needed.
