WPL did a deal with COP to buy the company that holds the asset in Senegal. FAR could have approached COP to sell, but didn't. How did WPL find out COP wanted to sell? Do FAR maintain good relationship with their partners? WPL have a number of long and successful farm-in partnerships. How many successful partnerships have FAR made money from? WPL has a lot of cash today, FAR has nothing today except delay tactic, if they had backer they would have already pre-empted. They need time to find a backer. Will the deal be on their terms?
Woodside have other assets in Senegal and have demonstrated ability to develop such assets. FAR have nothing to lose by extending the process except respect of their partners.
