18c isn't about penalising voicing opinions. It is about deterring defamatory (untrue) attacks based on race. The fact people can be against this boggles the mind.
None of us have the full story on the QUT situation so I suspect people have just latched on to the parts that fit their preformed opinions. I suspect there has to be significant basis to the allegations for it not to have been thrown out as load of crap though.
