A woman will only have as many children as she desires. Whether the woman is impregnated by one polygynous high status man or a monogamous lower status one makes no difference to number of children overall.
In a polygynous situation the man might only have one child with each wife reducing overall birth rate for example.
In summary the birth rate depends on number of available uteri not the structure of the relationship its in.
