On that basis do you also call Cairn Energy 'trolls'?? They sent the JV a resounding 'LOL' to pre empting... they are smart, research them, one of the very few oily minnows to rise to a mid tier producer in recent times... I rate their opinion and strategy over FARs... and, I do not know anyone else in the industry with a different view... imo DYOR

COP/WPL structure a deal to circumvent preemption, something you as a JV partner have every right to exercise and CNE say no worries mate welcome aboard! The only logical reason for you taking that stance and not blowing a piston is if you are are not surprised about the deal.

Simon Thomson CNE- I think on the first part of the question, there were specific circumstances for that transaction the way it was structured, so I can’t comment any more than that.

Read into the above statement however you wish but my reading is that CNE were either complicent or have a similar set up to circumvent preemption. No other reason for making that statement. If I was FAR management I would be looking into this statement and bringing it to the Senegal Govt attention.
