If the ev's are recharged every night with - as pretty much would be the case here in Oz and China - with power generated from coal then all that is happening is the pollution is being shifted from oil to coal!
And to add to the burden an enormous amount of energy/pollution is being generated in building these mega factories for ev and batteries.
As Musk is doing through Solar City, this must go hand in hand with clean energy production otherwise we are just dropping oil for coal!
This is where govts should assist, however here in oz they are so weak and under the influence - often with taxpayer subsidisation - of 'big pollution' (in all its forms gas, coal, oil, mining etc) that again very little will actually happen from govt leadership about pollution!
