TA is not my idea of the perfect leader but I do admire one quality above all others in a leader and that is spine. Turnbull is the complete opposite. I am an atheist Republican so I have differences with him straight off. However let's look at how the ABC led the charge against him.
Firstly there were a lot of promises made at the 2013 election that couldn't be kept while Gillard had been hammered for her broken promises. This is where Joe Hockey deserves centre stage. It was his job to swing the population behind "live within your means". Instead he chose to smoke a cigar which helped the denigration of TA. He allowed the ABC propaganda units to crank up full bore as they brought Turnbull onto their Q&A showpiece where he was once promoted as the "rightful leader of the Liberal Party".
Looking back I would say that TA needed to remove Hockey and replace him with a person of substance. "Live within your means" is one of the most important policies that every country on the planet has to apply. Yet Hockey failed miserably. For mine he was expecting the media to run campaigns in support of his actions. It didn't happen it was delusional. Maybe a Hockey fan can explain his failings?
Finally, the ABC was able to attack TA because he was a catholic when they were taking a lot of bad press. Guilt by association. TA introduced Knighthoods which was supported by maybe 20%. Of course there were the economic policies which Hockey failed miserably to explain. So the ABC had a field day pumping out that the Libs lacked Virtue, especially TA.
