Hi Doole,
I agree but unlike Hackett's previous ISP success, he had boxes full of cisco and other love to rely on as the platform upon which to build a successful service.
In this case RFX is flying a new box of their own with their own tertiary level management software and so for me it makes sense to strive to balance early embedded control of the roll out so that any early bugs are captured and their public embarrassment minimised - the control software and ZBM marriage is new and needs to be curated with invested and skilled installers regardless of the maturity of the cell itself. The product and installer expertise will both take about 6 months to become "eyes closed" and then another 6 months to build a base camp with running water, first pub and bigscreen tv.
Hackett wants a connected product that will tip easily into a massively interconnected and changing (hopefully) distributor regulatory regime.
Thereafter (say in 12 months) when the early revs. are bedded down, then canonical marketing and sales can apply...I don't think they'll lose anything with this approach...I like it... make much haste slowly, control the injection, calm the patient, then go flat knacker... go RFX...
