Maybe all is not lost re BLK(?) But in any case, you always have to DYOR independent of the
up-ramping and take responsibility your your own capital. The stock game is not a get-rich-quick scheme where you lob up, get a hot tip, then make a motza. You have to get used to the fact that SP's will fluctuate: the bigger the amount of shares you buy, the deeper you will be in the red on paper when the SP falls. This can be upsetting as you can see the opportunity cost, and you will have to watch as other stocks where you could have invested go on a run. But if you believe in the research you've done, then it's a matter of grinning and bearing it, as you will be ahead in the long run.
BLK could be a multi dollar stock one day; it's up to you to make that determination. Traders are looking to make money from trading. They will not shed a tear for people they probably regard as newbies or suckers. This can be a very tough game and you will always be learning. I have learnt some harsh lessons.
I am sure some traders act in concert so you need to be wary of not getting away by sudden influx of posters talking up a certain stock on not much news. They buy cheap, want to motivate others to do the heavy lifting of the SP, then sell the ground out from under everyone elses feet at a certain target price & hope to repeat all over again at another time or another stock.
