thanks Oldnrooted- i must admit to being transfixed on the delusion of frolicking my later stages of life on a Gold Coast beach.
trouble is the crime rate- apparently, it is notorious for this. Current Affair has numerous reports about drug busts, murders, assaults, rapes , robberies, bikies, road rage, schoolies and to top it off, dole recipients who love surfing.

that's why i think i have found the perfect compromise- an island full of retirees, close to me with all the amenities you would ever want , including a golf course, and only 10 minutes by ferry from the mainland , with an average house price at less than 300K.
the only thing missing is waves.

ps- sounds too good to be true i must admit, just like VOC at current SP's, but i will check it out just the same.
