that's a good point. To be honest, I'm really not sure, announcement says they terminated his employment contract. I think the employment contract and appointment as Director may be 2 different things.
I think you are right in that a Director can be removed at any time by shareholder vote, but termination of employment contract can be challenged under unfair dismissal.
E.g. Leighton Holdings had some big class actions brought by previous executives after they were fired when ACS took over the company (settled for tens of millions out of court at the end I believe)
