    BLE, BLE mesh, HomeKit, Zigbee and etc. IOT is not really about control I think, it is more about connection and data analysis, so things can be smart. BTW, I believe to control stuff from a smart phone is not something new, it has been around for quite sometime. Keywords drawing my attention are still 'all-in-one' from Telink and 'self describing' from Xped.
