Things you can do in an IoT enabled world:

1. Energise the lights, disarm the security and open the front door as you pull into your driveway late at night to expedite the dash from your car to the house and thus avoid the villains hidden in your front garden waiting to mug you on the way in.
2. Roll down the garage door you forgot to lower in your rush to get inside
3. When cleaning out those perpetually blocked pop-up sprinklers, operate your reticulation system from your phone rather than having to walk all the way around to the controller every time.
4. Disarm the security system and open the front door from work for the tradesman you forgot you organised to fix the blocked drain, and watch him steal all your stuff over the link to your CCTV system.
5. Save money by not having to buy batteries for the 12 remote controls you have around the house, and save time because you don’t have to spend it finding the one that always seems to be lost.
6. Monitor the condition of your swimming pool, so that you don’t have to chase the alligators out that have settled in the swamp-like conditions which are caused by the fact that you haven’t checked it for a couple of weeks.
7. When you get home after your afternoon perambulation with your IPod, you walk through the front door and have M2M transfer the music you were enjoying to your home stereo system – at which point your spouse yells at you because he/she was listening to something else.
8. Turn down the volume on the guitar amplifier in your son’s room that is blasting out his latest Metallica tribute at 105dB whilst you are trying to have your afternoon nap.
9. Be warned that the barbecue for all your friends this evening is heading for disaster because the gas cylinder is nearly empty.
10. Settle down in front of the footy, knowing that the moment you do the missus will decide the vacuuming needs to be done and that you can turn the bloody thing off.
