You mention diesel has more energy than petrol. No it doesn't. The higher heating value (HHV) of petrol is greater than the value for diesel: 48,000 kJ/kg versus 44,800 kj/kg. That's a chemical fact.

A diesel engine operates at greater compression ratio than a petrol engine. That's how it supplies more torque. Most modern diesels are also forced induction, giving them an even greater edge over the poor old spark-ignition engines.

I don't understand your statements about nation and pride. Discouraging a balanced discussion on the valuation of a stock isn't going to fly the flag any higher on the pole.
