Yak, if Hicks was given POW status he would have to be treated according to the Geneva Convention. This is precisely the reason that he has not been accorded that status because Bush's administrative orders are in contravention of the GC. Important and established principles of rights have been violated dreadfully here and Australia is complicit. A citizen who has committed no crime against Australian law, and questionably any against US law, has been abandoned for a political relationship. The Americans would never stand for one of their citizens being treated in this manner.
