The work by Phoremost is complementary to Phylogica in employing protein fragment libraries and powerful search engines; Phoremost has developed the SITESEEKER platform and Phylogica has a focus upon the EET platform which has generated FPP candidates currently being assessed in a range of collaborations.
I was interested to note that Merck has a section called the Peptide Drug Hunter Network at Merck Research Laboratories. So what do these guys do for a living? The section within Merck would appear to be charged with the responsibility to 'establish new approaches for discovery of pharmacologically active peptides designed to engage intracellular targets'. Merck of course is not a lone player and everyone is in the hunt to systematically find new shapes to make new drugs.
One suspects that all Phylogica needs is one breakthrough which will attract the attention of all those big time international drug hunters.
