aimone, I think you have missed one or two salient points on your earlier comments re young and tax to support pensions.
The older generations paid their taxes in the belief that they were doing so to ensure they had a pension in later later, it isn't their fault that fiscally irresponsible politicians have created this mess the budget is in and now have to rein in welfare and other expenditures to get some sanity in the system , if this is at all possible with our welfare and entitlement mentality now.
Superannuation was introduced to reduce the hit on the budget by a large cohort retiring over a few years , ie the baby boomer generation, however the necessary level of super contributions (SGL) was politically held back and the mess we have now is the result. Those of us who have SMSF and made the allowable contributions to remove ourselves from the Government pension system are now being subjected to overkill in the so called super reforms and those coming through will be struggling to be able to accumulate enough super to retire on outside a part pension.
There are more that a few retirees I believe that want nothing to do with Govt"help" with retirement.
