I have a gut feeling that the drill crew are not sure of the extent of concrete contamination.
As we are all aware the setting of concrete can be controlled to a certain degree. Moisture content, aggregate size and lime etc are all critical factors.
As each day passes the concrete being drilled gets harder and harder and so on. My guess is that, as a precaution, they will assume all the concrete to be drilled is set hard.
Perhaps the directors gave two weeks as the worse case scenario. Either way, two weeks is not that long a wait when you consider the overall time frame for the total project.
Let’s hope they are able to correctly diagnose what went wrong so as to hopefully avoid a similar problem with well #2.
