For those not in the medical field, IMO, this is a fabulous result. The most important point to remember here is that we are treating people with the virus already. It is incredibly hard to get the body to mount an effective immune response once a virus is established. This trial is about whether it it safe to use this vaccine and this has proven to be the case so far. So, yes, could the vaccine continue to reduce viral shedding/skin lesions to zero through repeat vaccination every 6 or 12 months.....entirely possible but only time and trials will sort this out. Like the cervical cancer vaccine that is now given to all teenagers in high school (preventative market), this, I see, is the bigger potential market. If this vaccine is effective at the hardest level (reducing viral shedding/symptoms in infected people), then as a preventative it may well be streets better. Off topis but eg. FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus vaccine - same family as HIV in humans) is highly effective as a preventative vaccine in cats, against this killer virus BUT only if given before exposure to the virus. So, if mandated by government at the primary school/high school level by governments because of the cost savings to the health system, then the market becomes enormous....
