seals, I am not sure about futures contracts, but I beleive with options, about 80% of the trades done are speculative. I myself trade these markets directly as a speculator. Majority of the trades would be this in my opinion.


Andrew, if copper's stock piles did do that, all well and good.... but it dosn't have to happen.

Re demand from China, everyone one seems to forget about the rest of the world and the USA. I would assume the USA is the biggest importer of Chinese goods and services... there are proper economic signs in the US at the moment that point to a US recession nearing. Definatly a big slow down and we have already seen this.

If there is a slow down from the US for chinese goods, kiss demand for metals good bye.
