My first investment with the stockmarket was WBC. 2000 shares @3.25 when they were on the bring in the early 90's. Was the best call I made given my lack of experience at the time. Unfortunately had to sell them to fund a house purchase in 2000.

Today, I am an optimist and believe the market will continue to perform for possibly 12 months. Most of the fund managers I speak to agree that there is still opportunity, but a lot of wholesale sized funds are implementing long-short managers who can snatch a few bp when the market starts to stall. One thing is certain. I am guarded now. I am very sensitive to commidity prices, interest rates, and am of the view that value based companies and defensive stocks will need to be purchased reduce portfolio volatility. I believe the health sector and staples are the key to achieving this, and the discretionary and finance sectors my second preference.
The wild card is the clear momentum building with Uranium - I have speculative exposures at the moment to this sector.
