    You'll note that I said "in principle" so you will note that my statement is completely true.

    Instead of "borrowing" the stock from an entity and selling it you merely borrow the stock from your own portfolio by selling them and rebuying them again cheaper.

    If you do not understand my statement I am happy to draw a diagram or take further steps to explain what I meant.
