The broad nature of the patent is exactly why I think their are some legitimacy issues about it. Genetics is no normal patent. A quick search on the Internet shows the amount of discomfort in respect to the patenting of genetics. It's not an issue that is going to go away quickly. I can think of many avenues of attack that lawyeres might chose to take regarding the patent, so it is very attackable.
Whilst the reneging of patents is not commonplace, it is not a precedence, it has happened before.
Again, I don't necessarily think GTG will fail, I am just saying this is the risk attributed to GTG, whether in the end it is perceived or not, only a juicy NBC-style courtcase will decide.
